Posted 12 years 4 months ago #58610If you adding the splitter for purely cosmetic reasons that's all well and good but I have performance concerns.
Anyone here know what the affect will be on the front downforce, because I have a feeling that combining the 2 could well be detrimental, which wouldn't be good (you don't want your front end reverting to it's original feel).
It's a bit like the early airplane designers thinking more wings was better - you don't see many biplanes these days
Recent tests of the famous Fokker Triplane (a la Red Baron) from WW1 has shown that the middle wing did practically nothing to increase the plane's performance - so, frequently, less is more regarding lift and, therefore, downforce.
So who's the aerodynamic expert here?

Posted 12 years 4 months ago #58614I think SS is only interested in aesthetics, we will see after i have got the Glass fibre and filler on it. After making a smooth arc for the front edge of the splitter I am still stumped on how to mount it though.

TB
It is the aesthetics, I am such a poser
I did think about taking all the mounts off so it is just flat, and just fixing it straight onto the bottom with Flexi or whatever it is called, then it would not alter the dynamics and just have a smooth black bottom
Maybe Jan should change her forum name to "The Red Baron(ess)"
lol I like being SS, double entendre
