Ah, the spindle... Yes, I went through a couple of those before getting my illuminated needles in. I just bought a s/hand instrument pod and swapped the entire gauge over. It was the temp gauge I had problems with too.:lol:

I have found a way to solve this problem on the temp and fuel gauge don't push the rings all the way home then the back of the red needle is above the ring

I have a secondhand clock set winging its way to me, I did go to the local scappy and he wanted £30, which I thought was a little steep. Found one on the bay of e for £15.

I'd certainly do the mod again, it was my own ham fisted action that caused the problem, although the alloy rings are not as good a fit as expected. It does make a nice difference with them on, esp with the blue leds lighting the alloy rings up.

i Fitted a set to my MGF ,perfect fit .

Removed when selling the MGf and tried to fit to the TF pah same problem as you mate

The solution is simple - file the inner curvature of the alloy ring by a fraction of a millimetre where the needle base would rub, prior to fitting. ;)

It's the easiest way. :broon:
