have my new joy now after much searching and love it loads.

But now its getting warmer I haven't had a TF during the summer as got my old one in the autumn and I'm finding the rear window thing a chore so can anyone recommend a good supplier & fitter for a glass rear window please. Seen a few online but would appreciate some recommendations.

:-?

You're not doing it right ...
( or rather you are doing it right, ... and that's why it's a chore. ;) )

Unclip your hood standing beside the driver seat.
Place your left arm/wrist across the midsection of the plastic screen with mild pressure.
Grasp the front of your hood with your right hand and throw back the hood.

This takes all of 5 seconds.

Do it regularly enough and your screen will eventually flex naturally at the mid point, ... allowing you to unclip from inside the car and throw the hood back in one motion when stationary
( always a winner for the traffic lights pose! :broon:  )

For a more cautious approach you can ensure the 2nd hood bar doesn't trap and that the 'wings' of the folded hood aren't scissored by the folded frame. This adds another 5 seconds or so to the process.

TBH, I so rarely ride with the hood up that I can't really justify the cost of a glass rear screen.. :coffee:

I used to unzip my rear window every time before folding the hood back. Until a read a posting from others who leave it zipped but roll a towel to protect the window where it folds over to stop any sharp creases. I bought a pool noodle from eBay that does the job and is a little neater.

I have often wondered about the aftermarket glass rear screens. SUrely they will need to be unzipped the same as the plastic ones as glass doesn't fold. If the hood folded straight back without removing the glass I would be interested myself. Never liked the plastic window as it's like looking through a bathroom window.

I fitted the MGF Mania glass window and it was straightforward and it does not need to be unzipped when folding the hood.

There are a few posts about them on the site including this one: http://www.the-t-bar.com/en/forum/9-mgf-tf-pitstop/64892-mgfmania-rear-glass-windscreen-and-hrw-switch

As I understand it the glass screen folds down without unzipping unless you have a wind stop. :hgf:
certainly an attractive proposition for less than the price of 3 plastic replacements.
I have however just fitted a plastic replacement from Fleabay and it is much less like a bathroom window than the old one.

Any pics please?

I used to throw my plastic one down knowing that it would crack someday. It never did. I have a glass one now and throw it down just the same.

Ahh, now that may have stopped my chance of a glass window in it's tracks. I have the Cool Blue version of TF which came with the wind stop fitted as standard. I don't really want to remove it so might rule out the glass window after all.

Mine folds no problem with a Perspex windstop that is permanently up, so you should be ok. Best to check with others that have the standard fitted ones first though. Do they not fold down?

I have the glass rear window, and Mike Satur mk1 hoops with integral glass windstop and it all works perfectly!

No problemo.
I think there is a problem with hoops or windstops that attach behind the TBar as they intrude on the area where the glass screen sits with the hood down.

I am doing a little video to show the operation of the glass screened hood. If you wait for a fortnight I'll probably manage to upload it! :pinch: :bust:
