Meg has a glass rear screen (this one from MGFMania) and a OEM fold down windstop - work just fine!

OLD black hood (with OEM glass screen):

NEW hood from MGFMania with glass screen:

Works with a full tonneau cover too!:

It does sit 'slightly' higher than the plastic hood when folded but that is to be expected. Doesnt cvause any issues though that I can see.

In my last TF I had a OEM MG wind stop and glass screen. Dropping the roof was easy with both. I have a MS glass one now and spot on. Nothing bad to report about either.

We saw a window crack in the cold when we were looking for a car...poor girl was keen to show us how easy it was to drop the roof and just threw it back - followed by a loud "Crack!"...kinda glad as we were looking for an excuse not to buy the car...it was a bit of a shed and not 'immaculate' as advertised.

On our current drive, our window zip broke twice with all the unzipping and zipping. (sorted out with the zip repair kit from Sonya).

We have a glass / heated MGF mania one now.
No unzipping, just un-clip and throw back, If the roof jams, then it's just the roof bar needs pushing out when you drop the roof.

Best thing we ever did was ditch the plastic screen.

I have a factory fit heated rear glass window and an aftermarket (Mike Satur) glass wind deflector; the hood goes down without unzipping no problem and I leave the wind deflector up all the time as there is no reduction in vision looking through both pieces of glass.

I think there is a problem with hoops or windstops that attach behind the TBar as they intrude on the area where the glass screen sits with the hood down.

I am doing a little video to show the operation of the glass screened hood. If you wait for a fortnight I'll probably manage to upload it! :pinch: :bust:

. I'm led to believe that the glass won't work with x power hoops

There were 2 'standard' folding mesh windstops sold my MG Rover. The taller one has a sort of angle bend in it (??) and the shorter one is more curved. It's the shorter one that is recommended for the glass screen soft top but for all I know the taller one is OK too.

I have the shorter wind stop and there are no issues with the soft top with glass. When lowering the hood you put-up the windstop first and when raising you put down the wind stop once the hood is up.

yep, there can be issue with X-Power hoops but other than those, youre good to go... just unclip and throw back. the reason the glass doesnt need folding is because its actually smaller than the plastic, with extra fabric round the bottom so it fits into the parcel shelf :) benefit of heated screen too on a winters morning is something one might normally take for granted too.
another worthwhile purchase is a pair of anti jamming straps... fit between the two cross bars and stop the folding one from sticking :) about a tenner i think?

Anti-jam straps are a good idea. Mine are original MG Rover bought on eBay but I think MGFMania also makes some too. However, with a bit of wide elastic and some velcro you could easily make your own.

YES, with xpower mgr hoops the glass roof will not go down as the fitment for the hoops is part in the area of where the glass goes

MGFMania CAN supply complete ONE piece hoods, without zip or Velcro. We first produced all hoods 1 piece in 2008 (Like MazMania MX-5 hoods) most people prefer to simply replace the screen section.

Our 1 piece hoods are not fixed to the rear bow, like 2005 MG Rover and ALL SAIC 2008 - 2010 cars, this allows the glass to lay flat behind the X-Power Mk1 Hoops.

Black Mohair one piece hoods are £385 including UK delivery complete with CD Video showing removal of the old hood, fitting the necessary straps, included in the fitting kit and the necessary long black powder coated rivets. To order pay [email protected] by PayPal or call 07778 149632 to order and pay by credit/debit card.

Or supplied & fitted by MGFMania in Knutsford, Cheshire for £475
