Hi guys/gals..just had my LE500 serviced but they didn't have the equipment necessary to reset the service interval. Is there any way I can do this myself?..Does anyone know who can do it?..and at what cost?

I've got an OBD2 wifi unit and that doesn't enable me to reset it..I've tried the 'press the trip button for and turn on the ignition for 10 secs' trick..and that don't work either.

Any ideas?

Nice car... Sorry I dunno how to do it but.. I'm sure some of the more **ahem** richer people might do. I know the MG Lifestyle would know you could give them a ring?

Well I tried holding the trip button for up to 30 secs, ignition on and off.

Switched ignition on with finger on the trip.

Plugged in my Wi-Fi dongle with Dash Command on the I-Pad.

Tried the Bluetooth dongle with my Samsung Note using Torque.

So far I have not had much luck. :nonod:

Looking around it seems that even ex MG garages are unable to reset this. That would seem to suggest that even a T4 can't work the reset.

I'd rather just sit with the light on rather than pay someone just to reset it each time.

That's a bit out of date, Harrogate Horseless Carriages, Silverlink & Bay Horse are no longer MG Motor dealers thats one great failing with MG Motor not enough dealers at present.

Yes but thats not really much help to the chap who wants to no who can do it and what cost at least he can make a enquiry and give him the self the option.

If we going to pick at bones there are 30 main dealers in uk will be 50 by the end of the year
MG6 havent sold well 300 models a year in uk no money no honey to interest any franchises.

However i have just posted a new topic about the MG3 out monday.

Just been talking to Martin at www.appledevelopment.co.uk in Meopham..they said that the only equipment able to reset service lights for the Chinese MGTFs is held by the official dealers.

They will reset the service light for £25 but only after an inspection confirms that a service has been done..not sure how they do that apart from looking at the colour of the oil etc...

Umm...what we need is an insight into what resetting involves...I've read somewhere that grounding pin 8 of the OBD socket might do it..not that I'm going to attempt that ..sounds like it could be an expensive test!

As an SI light is scarcely a necessity: not fitted to that many cars so if it was me I'd disable the lamp. 'Cos it would annoy me. :yesnod:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Unfortunately it's a bit more complicated than that..not really a light..more of a count down from 15,000 miles on the display and a warning when it's down to zero..AFAIK...a bit irritating..not sure it's £25 worth of irritating though....gonna be a pain for independents or those who want to do their own servicing..it's not as if there are a slew of main dealers around...
