Exhaust sensor post cat

Exhaust sensor post cat was created by Nick71

Hi all my exhaust is rotten and really needs replacing its the later one with the bend on the cat and the 2nd sensor, I have been given a trophy bb and decat pipe the older type without the sensor which I'm considering fitting as a stop gap until I have the funds for a full stainless system, I know it will fit and obviously the sensor can't be fitted so as a test I disconnected the sensor in the engine bay near the ecu to test the car and it's not bringing any faults up which is good. Has anyone done this or had any experience of fitting decats etc the car actually seems to drive a bit better as well with the sensor unplugged.

Cheers Nick

The one after the car is just to monitor emissions to test cat is working and will not make ecu changes.
As for ecu light I can't comment.

The need for the post cat sensor can be removed during a remap.

Or you could fit a MIL eliminator.

The MIL eliminator is no more than a 1m ohm resistor grafted into the black wire & a 1uf tant across the grey & black, positive to the loom side of the resistor. I found this whilst reserching another topic & such haven't tried it.

Looking from rear of car, it connects just to the left of the ECU bracket near the top of the engine bay.

Best bet is to "fiddle " the wire and look for movement near the ECU

Very fiddly to get new cable up there, so drop a small wire from the top, to pull it back up after replacing.
