Who drives theirs all year round?

I don't consider the term 'hobby car' derogative in any way. My TF is unashamedly a hobby car - a 4WD Duster does the everyday work, a Suzuki Vitara 4x4 does the scruffy work towing the log trailer and the TF only goes out when it's sunny. The French call them voitures de Dimanche and I'm not ashamed to be one of them!

In my youth my MGA and various Midgets were everyday cars and were treated as 'open cars' - roof up only when the rain got in at over 30mph! But now, in retirement, I can finally keep a car spotless and just enjoy it when I want to. The TF is available all year round, and cold isn't a problem, but we're in Spain for January and February so I don't get much of a chance to rug-up and enjoy a winter run!

MGs are open cars - keep them that way!

What's that black canvas thing behind the seats for?

Use it all year round but it's a second car (MY car!) so doesn't get all that much use really. My 8 year old granddaughter loves it and insists on having the roof down when I pick her up from school, calling out and waving to all her friends as we drive by.

Similar here. Sportage for daily drive, TF only when its sunny - trouble is, if its the weekend then it's back to the 4x4 towing the boat. So the TF only gets used on sunny days, to and from work. Which limits it's use - but it is taxed ready...

How do you find the Duster 4wd? I was looking and them - but there's nowt wrong the the Sportage TBH...

I use mine year round, but then I don't have to commute in it.

If I was using it everyday then I'd probably look into lagging the underfloor pipes and making a few other changes to speed up warm up time. I want to make a few changes to the heater circuit as output isn't great, particularly at idle, the PRT set up is inferior in heater output, although probably doesn't help I lost the flow restrictor and had to make a new one.

Nick the Geek asked 'How do you find the Duster 4wd?'

Excellent value for money, not so many bells and whistle as some of the (much more expensive) rivals but a very practical and capable vehicle.

30 months and close to 60,000km with only a disconnected drain tube in the aircon, so no complaints. Currently in Spain indulging in a little soft-roading having come through the snow and torrential rain that hit Spain last week with confidence and in comfort.

If you're thinking of one http://www.daciaworld.co.uk/ is well worth a look. I post as Thefrenchconnection.

PM me if you'd like some more detail

I do. Round S London it is still fun so long as you don’t mind a few drips on your right knee if it rains heavily. Good away from lights and into narrow gaps between traffic & parked cars. Mike Satur blue springs & Spax make suspension a little softer over speed bumps but don’t forget to realign tracking after. I put hard top on Oct to April but now got glass heated rear window to put on so can benefit from sunny days all year round. Only deficit is no use for trips to tip & Ikea.

i use mine whatever the weather. Lives outside too as my garage is filled with a fiat 124 spider. That would probably dissolve if left outside lol.

Do you know the difference between the tip and Ikea?.............The tip charges you to take your rubbish, whereas Ikea charge you to take their rubbish! :bust:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
