This morning I went to have a look at my hibernating TF . I thought I would start it up as it hasn't turned a wheel for ages . I have an anoying problem with the good old Pectron fob which doesn't always allow me to de activate the imobilliser . I usually just remove and refit the battery and that seems to sort it but this morning when I removed the cover I some how managed to break off one of the three pronged battery contacts . I do have another fob so all is not lost. I have looked on Flea Bay and I could get the printed circuit for around £20 . Looked at the cost of a complete new fob from Rimmers £102 inc vat . :omg: I know that a new fob or a second hand circuit board will need programming so, the question is has anyone tried to use the pscan with the new up date or is this still regarded as risky as Phillip says. I would try it but when I bought the TF it came without a EKA so I have no way of getting the car going if things go pear shaped . The broken contact does come off the PCB so I could buy the second hand one and it would be back to how it was before but, it still would have this tendency to not work without a wiggle. ( I do like a nice wiggle now and again) and it can happen when you don't want it to , like last year at the channel ports .
Any thoughts guys ( and girls ) as always much appreciated.

I have a Chinese copy of the omniscan reader that not only gives you the eka code but allows you to change it to something memorable.

I think I started this thread in a bit of a panic . My TF is in a garage that is walking distance from the house and, as it has no mains power I need to wait until I can get it into my garage and have a bit of a play with it coupled up to the pscan and my pc . The querie I have is that the latest update for the pscan hasn't given any clue as to whether it is now safe to reprogramme the pesky Pektron fob without locking out the Imobiliser . I might even post a question on the pscan forum .
Cheers anyway .

I need to check out an SRS light on the ZS (probably the airbag on the passenger seat) so if I remember I shall pop it on the car at lunchtime tomorrow.
www.technozen-electronics.co.uk normally has fobs or might be able to repair yours.

I might give technozen a call . As I said the bit that I snapped off inside the fob does actually unclip from the pcb so I could buy a s/h fob and fit that bit back on .Then I would be back to square one but, it would still leave me with a fob that doesn't always work .

So, second hand fobs are good only to parts and case swap if there is anything usable.
For good fob you would need new one which then can be programmed to your SCU.

Technozen is THE No.1 expert on Pektron, he won't supply a fob that wont work, new or used.

I agree completely, no questions asked. I wrote this down, just not to forget and try buying second hand fob from eBay for example, without barcode.

If you can't get hold of Paul (Technozen) there's another guy I know of (Kevin) who has a company called Remobilise. He's pretty good on Pektron issues and could probably help you out. You'll find his details at www.remobilise.co.uk
