Probably a failed micro switch in the drivers door lock.

Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.

MG - the friendly marque.

Had this on the passenger side. Bought a s/h lock assembly off eBay buy it the noo for 17 quid. Sorted. Locking silence. I took the old one to bits out of curiosity: as TC says, probably the micro switch, but not really user serviceable unless you're a micro- gynaecologist. One of dem t'ings full of springs, switches, plastic levers and ball bearings etc. All of which ping past your ear 'oles as the last screws release.

Can offer help/ guidance, as will others, if you go down the replacement route. One hour job. Keep us informed.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Be careful not to deadlock the car, as faulty locks have a liking for failing in the locked position. Means forcing the doorcard off to fix.

Hi-you didn't say if the car was an MGF or TF ,although the locking mechs are the same on both models they are activated differently.

If both locks are making a whirring or rattling sound this is not likely to be a door lock fault on both sides .

If the car is a TF with the oval shaped fobs you could have a SCU controller relay fault .

Could you supply more detailed info about your problem

regards

Mike

As above, you need to let us know whether it's one or both. :yesnod:

thanks but there is no way it can lock me out always garaged with the roof nicely tucked away, that way if all goes cocks up I just climb in, the alarm is working spot on so if I try and get in when it is activated the whole world can hear it.
