New car day

Hi All,
Finally pulled the trigger on a TF160. 60k, one owner with a shed load of paperwork from the likes of MGFnTFBITZ and other MG specialists.
The only (hopefully) small fly in the ointment is the engine light is on, but my reader says “No DTC’s.” It hasn’t been used much in the recent past and on the test drive behaved impeccably so I’m hoping a battery disconnection for a good length of time and a good run will sort that.
Cheers,
Michael.

We’ll done, you’ll love it & after you’ve run out of all those lovely Yorkshire roads you can come over to the Pennines to play on our roads through the Trough of Bowland etc.

Thanks to both of you.
Airportable - I’ll be in touch 😁 Been through the Forest of Bowland a bit back, very nice indeed. The engine light mentioned in my other post turned out to be the good old upstream Lambda! They’ll both be replaced if it comes back on. But it’ll have several good runs first.
Cheers,
Michael.

I had exactly the same with mine, bought a cheap OBD2 tester to check the fault but it wasn't compatible so took it to a local mobile mechanic who plugged it in to his system and diagnosed the Lambda sensor fault. Bought a new one, but it was a bit of a mess about as the plug was different. So ended up cutting the wiring off the old one to wire in the new one!! That was 13 months ago and 11000 miles later all is good.

Hope yours is just as good.

Thanks to all who’ve taken the time to reply. Really appreciated.
The seller contacted me last night saying a neighbour/ friend (can’t remember) had a reader and it’d read P0170 - fuel trim malfunction. 🤷‍♂️ I’ll just have to see how it goes, hopefully it’ll not be too expensive, although I’m still a Jag owner who’s paid for head gasket and timing chains…..😁☹️
Any recommendations for TF compatible reader would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Michael.

Im afraid I dont know about VVC codes but check to see if the fuel filter has been changed recently. If not do it anyway as even if it doesnt help with the fault code it will be good to do. It is something that is too often overlooked.

My 115 ran a whole lot better after I changed mine. I suspect it may have not been changed for many years as there was visible dirt in it when i shook it out into a container and that would have affected the fuel flow to some extent.

I use a ELM 327 Bluetooth obd2 and the Torque app on my phone and tablet. I have read and reset fault codes and to be honest its all I need currently, but should anything more be required PScan would the way forward IMHO

Thanks Steve.👍🏻
I think I’m using the ELM327 module but I’m using the Car Scanner app. It’s always found codes on the Jag, the Freelander and my wife Beemer Mini Cooper S. 🤷‍♂️
Which version of Torque are you using? There’s several listed on the App Store.
Cheers,
Michael.
