Good suggestions about the heated bean bag. I don't know if this distortion was there from new, or if it appeared later. The seal between the screen vent and the underside of the dash was not well aligned, so the escaping heated air could have been the cause of the problem.
It looks like this is not a normal known problem, so there won't be a quick fix. I now just want to get the vents back together so I can drive the car while we still have some good weather, hence I will probably just have to live with this (maybe fix it over the winter when I don't plan to drive the car).

Going back to the off topic discussion, I was very disappointed when MGR went under. I have always owned vehicles from the BL brand and always liked them. I still have my ZTT that I bought when MGR went under (I had always wanted one and it was my last chance). The ZTT is still going strong (over 200k miles) and used as my second run around. The latest new car being a BMW 340iGT. After all, the ZT is built on a 3 series platform, so it was the nearest similar car.

When we holiday we invariably go in our motor caravan, in which I am now sat. A few pitches up from us is a pristine 75 connoisseur & it still looks fresh. It has the look of a car designed using inspiration, a large sheet of paper & several pencils. Most of the other draft vehicles on the site have what I think of as the dot matrix vibe, digital design, where the lines change direction as opposed to flowing. There’s a Toyota Sometingorother next door but one to us & you wouldn’t need many dots per square inch to print out a good likeness, if you were to use the same dot density to print a picture of our car’s you’d end up with the side elevation of a Swan Vesta box.
