Front hub compatibility
Is it ok to use abs hubs and stub axle on a non abs car?

The hub casting is the same whether it's an ABS setup on not, as is the drive flange & bearing components the only bit that's different apparently is the stub axle, although why that should be is a bit daft. The ABS axle has the castlated detentes for the magnetic pickup to count, casting & machining two types would seem costly when the ABS one would do both jobs.
I'm not sure of how viable it would be to retro fit ABS but if you were to go that route you would already have the correct front axles on the car.

My 115 TF without ABS and 135 with ABS both have the same castellated stub axles.
It sounds like Rover started off fitting 2 types of stub axles on the F depending on whether it had ABS and then standardised on using the same part when it came to the TF as perhaps more cars were being ordered with ABS by then so it wasnt worth carrying 2 lots of parts..

Using up old Metro parts is a possibility.
