unfavorable MOT

Very good friends!
I just tried to pass the ITV in Spain, and as I expected, unfavorable.
The first failure, and I think it is more the fault of the inspector, he did not find the chassis number marked on the bodywork.
The dashboard plate is not worth it.
The plate in the front compartment is not worth it.
And in the trunk, on the left side, behind the carpet, it is not stamped.
The other worrying failure is regarding emissions.
The machine reads a maximum of 9.99 and according to the technician, it exceeded it.
Can someone shed some light for me?!

Hi VJSantos, not sure why your ITV tester is so interested in the chassis number, mostly people will simply use the VIN which you already seem to have found. I think it is, as you said, the fault of the tester. Not sure why it is not found in any of the places you mention, it certainly should be. The uides I have found certainly work for my TF here in the UK. Is your car a left hand drive version by the way?

The emissions could be due to all sorts of things, faulty sensor, exhaust issue or a number of other things. Knowing your exact model and engine would help us here to help you.

In Spain, MOT inspectors are usually mechanics who have not found a job.
I understand your frustration, but it seems to me that they do totally random inspections (apart from making me waste almost 2 hours having gone by appointment)
My car is a '97 MGF 1.8 LHD, with Mike Satur suspension (which I will try to pass off as an original extra, not as a modification)

This is the vehicle Body Number.  It is stamped into the panel between the boot/trunk and the engine compartment.  You will find it just at the left of centre by folding down the boot carpet.

Good Morning all, Thanks Bruce, I had something similar when importing to Europe. They wouldnt accept anything 'welded on' and said i needed to talk to the main dealer. Some frantic googling when told i had 5 mins remaining in my inspection slot. I believe this is the mark that the inspector is looking for.

I found it it thanks to some colleagues from the group from Spain.
But I'm almost sure my obligation is to get the car in order and pay, their obligation is to know where a VIN
If not, they can't take out a vehicle because they don't know do their job...

A long time ago I was advised by an MOT tester mechanic, to pass emissions more easily, make sure the car is as hot as can be, that is drive it a decent distance and get straight in to the garage for the MOT. Emissions test first and the rest of the test afterwards.

Mine failed in June on the emissions, the tester said put CAT cleaner in and hammer it immediately before the test, I was doing 5K/6K rpm in 2nd (no fast roads near me) and the oil temp was the hottest I've seen it, result it passed. The other good thing was even driving like that the temp gauge stayed in it's normal place just under halfway
