Fitting Alpine tweeters to a TF
Hi all
I have a set of Alpine door speakers and tweeters to fit to my 04 TF. The Alpine tweeters are too small to fit the aperture in the door card; has anyone fitted them successfully, and if so, how?
TIA

Cant you just get some tweeters that will fill the hole? It sound a bloody side easier than buggerising about

In my opinion any type of audio system in a car like ours is a waste of electricity, by the time you have it loud enough to hear, its distorting like mad & shaking seven shades of shit out of anything that’s loose.
Mind you that hadn’t stopped me fiddling around with the system I have, to maximise the performance, which included steering wheel mounted controls. It does sound fairly good when I turn the engine off & put the hood up.
Go with Cobb’s advice, any pearl of his wisdom I’ve followed has be a success. Mostly.

Depending on what tools you have access to you could gut the originals and fit the new smaller tweeters inside the existing casings. That way
they will attach to the door card as the originals.

I get that the whole point of the exercise is probably to improve upon the original offering, but these things do come in different sizes so find what fits and is an improvement! That would be the originals, then…

The biggest difference I found on my TF when changing the audio system was the tweeters, I wanted OEM look and could not find aftermarket ones to fit without a lot of bodging. However MG Rover did offer upgraded tweeters from Harman Kardon that are a straight fit. Just twist the old ones out of mounting , plug in HK ones and twist back in. Only 30 seconds per side. They were OEM on Rover 75. Part No XQN100210

I'm not sure, but could you maybe use some kind of adapter plate to fill the gap around the alpine tweeters? Just spitballing here.
