Looking to change from sealant and pump to a spare wheel,  so my question is what size tyre would be required for it to be used on all wheels
I understand it would also have to be a multidirectional tyre.  (16 inch wheel)  Thanks  Glyn.

It depends on which brake callipers you have, if you are running standard callipers then those figures are correct, if you have four pots then you have to hope that your puncture is on the rear tyres.
It is possible if you are running four pots & have a front puncture to take a wheel off the rear & transfer it to the front, that would allow you to use the standard spare on the vacant rear.
This is not something I would wish to do on a high volume road.

Hi so do I take it from your answer that I should stick with the sealant and pump or have I miss read it?
As the car is still new to me I take it that because my callipers are red they are 4 pot on the front, yes?
Thanks Glyn.     (I have 16 inch wheels)
I find that I'm getting more confused about this.  If I purchase a 11 spoke 16 inch wheel surely that would fit both front and rear
as a spare, so going back to my original question:  what size tyre would be required and would it need to be multi directional?
  Thanks again.  Glyn.

Go on a Tyre size comparison site...type in your front tyre size..it will give you the circumference.
If your rear tyres are different do the same and you will see they are close.
Find a 16 inch rim that fits, doesn't have to be alloy and type in tyre sizes until you find a size that suits your circumference.
As above...when I had wide tyres in 15 inch on my rally car I had to fit a 14inch wheel and tyres to match the different front to rear sizes on my car.
Do not persevere with sealant. It will bite you.

Because my car is a relatively early Mk1 & I have changed (buggered about with) the front brakes & because I have a set of 17” wheels in the wings, awaiting their grand entrance, I have gone from carrying a spare to adopting tyre goooo.
As has been said this can dump you in some deep shit, if it all goes tits up, as yet this hasn’t happened & I’m not dumb enough to think it won’t. Plus it’s easier to lift a box of chemicals out than a tyre, as I’ve two knackered shoulders one is more attractive than the other.
If you have standard rear brakes, then the 175/65/14 would overcome your problem but as I have said to change a front flat you have to take a rear wheel off first.
Does a 16” wheel go under the bonnet?

Another thought: a red calliper doesn’t immediately indicate four pots. I was looking over a friends f the other day & saw that he had red callipers all around, focussing on the front, Richard admitted to a paint pot parody off the updated brakes.
There are also 2 pots which look like the fours only washed at the wrong temperature & put through a spin cycle.

For rebel read daft bugger, but at the price & shod with new proxy tyres I’d have been daft not to have bought them. It was a lovely day out & a really nice man selling them.

If their both knackered, it's likely neither are all that attractive.

Hi yes the 16 inch wheel is a standard size spare for a TF with 16 inch wheels.
Some were yellow and some black and I understand that they are the same part/casting number as a standard 16 inch. Glyn.
