locking problem

apologies for hijacking the thread but I have a strange locking problem
Car will not lock with the remote, but unlocks fine, starts and runs, etc.
BUT- if I remove fuse 5 ( c/l ) and reinsert, the remote locking works once, locks and unlocks, but will not lock again unless i remove and reinsert the fuse.
Can't be the locking motors as they work when reinserting the fuse
This has only happened since the AA dismantled drivers side door lock as it wasnt catching on the latch- the AA have revisited and said there's no problem with anything mechanical, but they think the central locking module is duff- seems a bit coincidental to me.

I have moved your question to a thread of its own, so that it will be highlighted for people to suggest solutions.
Do the locks lock and unlock by themselves or only when you use the fob.
In other words if you try to lock them with the fob do they lock then immediately unlock again?

I'm in castle carrock. It,s my wife's TF135 ( silver). I just get lumbered with fitting roll hoops and things like that, and fixing the bloody thing.
It all started a few weeks ago in the big freeze- drivers side door lock started clicking so fitted a new one from mgfntfbitz. Dropped a socket down inside the door and couldn't retrieve it at the time, so put the door card back on and all was well.
So a day or 2 ago door wouldnt shut- wouldnt engage on the latch. Wife got AA out who took door card off and found the socket which had moved and was blocking the mechanism. Now the door closes fine, but the central locking doesnt lock the doors. Doors can be locked manually, and the remote will unlock them. Also replacing the c/l fuse makes the remote locking work again, but only one time.- after that, it refuses to lock remotely. Verry strange....
Pressing the locking button on the fob- nothing happens- no noises or movement from either door- until the fuse is removed and replaced....then it locks and unlocks- but won't lock again.

Ooh, so you're about 10-15mins away!
It does sound bizarre, I'll be interested to hear Clive's views on this one.
He's our resident electrickery expert, and he knows a lot more about TFs than me.
If you want to come over, I'd be happy to have a look at the problem.
PM me, and I'll give you directions. Although if you arrive in Aiketgate and shout, I'd probably hear you:bye:

Try resynching the fob to the alarm and also fit a new battery if you haven't recently, or do you have a second fob you can try?

this is what the AA report says
" no feed to lock side of motor/solenoid - reset body control module, locked once then failed. suspect module failed. Garage to replace module once diagnosis confirmed "
It just seems odd that the failure to lock is only since the door was stripped down ( by the AA ) to remove a socket that was blocking the mechanism and stopping the door shutting on the latch.
Is it possible one of the switches has failed and is telling the ecu the car is locked when it isnt?
When I press the locking button there's nothing at all- no noise or anything- but it works fine when resetting by replacing the fuse.
Anyhow- is there a seperate module between the ECU and the door motors, or do I need a new ECU? Can't seem to find out if there's a seperate C/L module?
Thanks

Unlock the door with the key, then press the lock button on the fob repeatedly until the door lock.

When I lock the doors manually and press the button on the remote, the alarm light on the dash goes off. So everything seems to work as it should apart from the alarm ecu sending power to the locking motors. The fob does evrything it should- it even locks the doors if i reset the module by pulling out the underbonnet fuse and replacing it- so it all points to the alarm ecu. I having trouble finding it- what i thought was it is the srs airbag ecu in the footwell
