I had a Chrysler Horizon, it was like a cross between a tank and a sewing machine!

Only had it a few months then bought a Mk1 astra.

I had a 1976 Mk3 Cortina 1600 XL Estate MMG 365P in Miami Sky Blue metallic and Black Cherry, £250 in 1985, then i had a 1976 Leyland Mini Clubman 1100 Estate SGH 114R. The Mini was written off on the A3 at Tolworth as i tried to overtake a lorry through the underpass, lost control and span it into the central reservation :(
Next came a Mk1 Escort 2 door 1100 L HYC 38N which too got written off and was replaced by a Mk1 Morris Marina 1800 DL Estate which i fitted with a MGB head and twin SUs and then promptly destroyed the rear diff :(
I then had a Daihatsu 55" Wide Van 496cc twin YOI 442 which i spun a big end bearing whilst trying to get 70 mph down the A3, also at this time i had a 1977 MK 1 Granada 2.0 L, a 1973 Mk 1 facelift 1600 GT Capri TBY 2L in Sunset red with twin whip aerials and a rear window louvres, 1976 Hillman Avenger 1300 DL estate NGN 385P in a fetching shade of orange and a 1972 Mk3 Cortina 1600 GXL two door in Mimosa Yellow.
Then a 1978 Chrysler Avenger 1300 DL two door saloon with a 1600 engine and GLS carbs and dash. Plus a 1981 Mk V Cortina 1.6L ATW 365X, this was replaced by a 1985 Ford Sierra 2.0 GL saloon B347 OPG, which i then swapped for a 1981 Rover SD1 3500 V8 Vanden Plas KHX 271W, i spent a small fortune on the Rover with new body panels and a rebuilt engine with a boxer manifold and four SU carbs :)

1999 (V) Ford Fiesta 1.25 16v LX, 75bhp Panther Black, Aircon, Corba Alarm, Electric Windows, Zetec S Alloys
2004 (54) Ford Mondeo 1.8 LX, Panther Black, More of a Ghia when I got rid of it due to upgrading components
2005 (55) Vauxhall Astra Design 1.7 CDTI (100bhp).....erm black again....quite nice alloys, leather etc.
2006 (56) Ford Mondeo ST 2.2 TDCi :-D Panther Black, ST yayy, 18" alloy gloriousness, half leather etc - always wanted one and current main car
2002 (02) MG TF 135, Silver, Full Leather, 15" Alloys - great fun :-) always wanted one and current fun car

None written off just PX'd - would of loved to of kept the Fiesta.

Looking at that history above I'm thinking I've had too many cars for my fairly young age (<30) oops!! Also there's a bit of a trend in the colour scheme - I can tell you for sure the next one will be black whatever that may be too.

A 1954 A30 in Sludge Grey, just over 11 years old at the time and with the usual replica body panels in Isopon and perforated zinc sheet. Massive 803cc A-series engine with 29bhp on a good (rare) day. Heavily modified with additional spotlights, a Peco exhaust, rev counter and a drop of Castrol R in the petrol tank. Result... a replacement Gold Seal engine.
The ultimate way to learn the basics of handling... EP90 in the lever-arm dampers to give some sort of effect, skinny cross-plies and plough understeer turning into bump oversteer. Luckily all happening at less than its 50mph maximum (downhill). Amazing carrying capacity (6 inside, one in the boot).
Excellent introduction to basic maintenance and incredible luck. My commute involved a steep downhill hairpin - one day the seal in the master cylinder failed and the handbrake saved the day. The next day I parked, pulled on the handbrake and the cable snapped...
Epic trips included Dorset to London and back in just a day, with only a service before leaving, another on return and just bolting the suspension back on in Winchester. Pretty routine really.
Today I thought I'd better at least look at the oil level on our 4x4 before setting off on our 1450km trip home to France from the Costa del Sol. It was to level of course, but I felt better.

It was followed by a 1958 MGA - many of the same problems, but much more fun.

What's that black canvas thing behind the seats for?
