MEMS1.6 Experts?
Hi All,
I'm trying to get to the bottom of a problem I've had with my Rover 220 Coupe Turbo 1995 for the last 15 years!
I brought the car as a non-runner, rebuilt the car back to its former glory and I've been driving it with the camshaft sensor unplugged.
I don't do many miles so it's not really been an issue, as MEMS will run off the crank signal with this sensor unplugged (not ideal really). When I plug in the cam sensor, the car runs all lumpy and struggles to idle. Also the relays in the engine bay fusebox go crazy, clicking like mad which makes me think it's an electrical issue (?).
Anyway, I've done all the obvious things like change the cam sensor, double check the engine timing, wiring loom was recently refurbished yet my problem is still there.
I want to share with you the Live Data from Pscan, with and without the cam sensor plugged in, hoping someone can spot something 'weird' and maybe give me some pointers.
Without cam sensor plugged in:
With cam sensor plugged in:
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
James

I'm not an expert on mems 1.6 but the one thing that stands out is the stepper motor position. It is way too high in both sets of readings. Much more out with the cam sensor plugged in.
Try unplugging the stepper motor. What does the engine idle at with the cam sensor plugged in? It should be steady at 850 rpm.
