Interface Failed: Interface not powered was created by Captain Slow

Attempting to install the software, but receive the following message "Interface Failed: Interface not powered" after I've clicked on English and click on Next. I've installed the drivers as per the instructions.

The led on the end of th eunit does not iluminate when connected to the laptop. Should it be lit when not connected to the car?

Help!

When you connect it to your car the light will start flashing, the warning will go away, and pscan should start working.

I think that I need to change the warning message, this is the most common query from new customers.

New user trying to see any problems I've got. Dowloaded the software ok to W10 device. Using an OBD2 interface and getting this error message even after connecting to the diagnostic socket on the car. Just getting red LED light on OBD2 unit. Is the software compatible with any OBD2 interface or do I need to be using a specific product?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Do you have a pscan unit?
This is needed to connect between the MG and the pscan software.

The software only works with a pscan interface.

I have no idea what a Super Scan OBD2 connector is, but at a guess it will be an ELM237 based or ELM237 clone based device.
The list of protocols that the ELM327 chip supports is not wide enough for MGs and Rovers.
The ELM chip is basically designed to cover OBD2 and EOBD standards based protocols, but very little in the MG and Rover era cars is standards compliant.
In order to solve this we designed our own interface.
We made is as cheap as we possibly could, but it's not free.

For info.

If you have a mems3 car,i.e. coilpacks atop the cylinders and two  lambda/o2 sensors then you can use the Torque App on your phone to connect to your elm27 obd2 device. This will give you basic info, but nowhere near as comprehensive as the pscan unit.

Elm27 units cannot connect to earlier MGs.
