Hi everyone,
I have a '97 rover 214i and i need to know to remove the 16- pin diagnostic socket from the metal bracket it is attached to? I can’t remove it, no matter how hard I pull. I don’t want to break it, so I’m wondering if you know of any trick to get it out of the bracket? I have never done it before. The reason is, I need to connect it to the pscan tool.
Thank you in advace, Eliza

Assuming you mean the ODB2 socket why would you want to remove it from it's bracket rather than just plug the PSCAN lead into it ? If in doubt it could be worth posting a picture of it.

The factory plugged the diagnostic socket into the bracket the wrong way round on some vehicles, so you can't actually plug into it.

It's surprisingly common.

Hi Eliza and welcome to the forum

It may sound silly but have you  tried pushing the plug?
