Hello to all!
I've been lurking for a while. Summer is coming.  Decision time is hear.  Buy a summer scoot or not?  That's the question.  Second being If so - which one?
So expect all manner of silly questions, although scout's honour I'll check the search box first.

Hello and welcome!
They are fun cars and much more reliable than you may have heard.
I bought my TF, prefer the looks to the F, a debatable topic, based on condition rather than spec.
Of course if you can find both even better.
It all depends on your budget.
Whatever you buy there is lots of help here to fix anything broken.
Good luck.

Welcome .
"Second being If so - which one?"   Which MG or which specific "scoot"?

VinceR - not decided yet.  Thought I'd begin looking at the MG.

MGF:
Classic MG styled front end.
Hydragas suspension (brilliant when it's set up nicely, read up and fix it yourself if it isnt)
1.6 = 110 bhp. 1.8= 118bhp. 1.8 Auto = 118. 1.8 VVC= 145bhp. 1.8 Trophy = 160bhp

MGTF:
More modern looking front end, some styling changes.
Conventional steel spring & shock absorber suspension.
1.6= 115bhp. 1.8= 135, 1.8 Auto= 120bhp 1.8 VVC=160bhp

Ive had both and like them both for their slightly different characters.

There are a lot of bargains around especially if you can pick one up that needs some paintwork etc. They arent too bad to work on though jobs such as a cam belt change will seem a bit like working through a letterbox compared to a front engined car.

Not much kills them if you are a practical owner.
Sills can go at the back but in quite a restrained way compared to most cars of this era and are usually easy to repair with a flat welded plate.
Most will have had their head gaskets replaced by now, the replacement part being better than the original.
The subframes can be unbolted and swapped out.
Lots of good 2nd hand interiors and soft tops.
Good parts supply generally
Very good community support
