Hello All,
Just joined this helpful forum having bought a 2005 MGTF 135, LHD, 50,000 km and, literally, one careful lady owner.
I've lived in France for more than 30 years, in Lot et Garonne - good wine growing country.!
I'm over 80 now so the MG seats are a bit close to the ground and I fear it will be my last sports car.
I've had a few fast cars in my life - starting with , and somehow surviving - a terrifying SAH converted Triumph Vitesse, followed by a Renault 5 turbo, a Celica GT4 and a Jaguar XKR. .
It's a pretty car and like new but I'm having problems with a heavy gear change when driving (slick as anything with the engine off) which, looking around seems likely to be due to the clutch not fully disengaging - I do have to put the clutch to the floor to change gear.
I can't find a drawing of the slave cylinder support bracket on the Forum and would much appreciate help and advice.
All the best to you all,.

There was a bit of prattle a few months back which had some info, however I would blead it first, probably blead the whole system through. New DOT4 from beginning to end might see an improvement.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Airportable has already given you the best place to start, after that I would check the slave cylinder for any leaks then if all is good I would look to the master cylinder. I have had issues with both in the past.

Hello and welcome to the Forum!
It looks like you have a very nice car that you can enjoy.
In addition to bleeding the clutch as others have suggested try and lubricate the clutch fulcrum arm where it goes in to the gearbox. They can seize up and prevent full movement of the clutch.
I did my own this afternoon. It is hard to see under the airbox but luckily I have a cone air filter so removing that allowed me to spray grease on to pivot point at the gearbox.
Good luck!

G'day and welcome, as a new member, may I suggest you have a look at the new owners and members checklist: https://www.the-t-bar.com/forum/54-how-tos/99326-a-check-list-for-new-owners
Yeah they can be a bit awkward to get in and out of, I find it not too bad when the roof is off, but a bit of a bum in a bucket car when the roof if up!

Thanks to you and the others for your help.
I suspect the problem may be that the car was serviced by an MG dealer before delivery - including changing clutch and brake fluid so they may not have bled the clutch properly.
Some DOT 4 on the way and I look forward to the pleasure of 'hunt the engine' followed by 'find the slave cylinder' for a bit of bleeding bleeding !
Let you know how I get on.
I'm moving further prgogress (if any) to a new thread so I don't clutter up the 'Welcome' one.

Good luck because it's not easy access.
