New project
Hi All,
brand new owner of an 2005 MG TF, not much experience with cars in general but really looking forward to get on with this project. Based in the Netherlands and found this car standing in a garage for the last 7 years. so it needs some TLC before it is road worthy again.
already done:
- oil service
- new brake pads front
- APK (dutch equivalent to MOT)
- new tires all around
planned:
- Timing belt
- new window mechanism driver side
- fix headlight as bulb is now in with gum....
- new mirror driver side as I hear the motor running but glass isn't moving
- speaker upgrade
wishlist:
check / replace wishbone and other rubbers on the front axel as the car is a little bit loose or searching while driving
find a used exhaust (Toyosports?)
little bit of damage on the wheel arch passenger side in the rear, going to get that done over the winter
hardtop, but difficult to get in Netherlands
extra working key fob + extra key

G'day and welcome to The-T-Bar.
You might want to have a look at our checklist for new owners and members: https://www.the-t-bar.com/forum/54-how-tos/99326-a-check-list-for-new-owners You should find some useful pointers there

Timing belt is going to be a co-op with my buddy who is a certified mechanic that is planned for august 8th
Fixing the headlight spring thing is something for later today
and the speaker upgrade maybe this weekend.
The mirror i'm doubting if im going to give repainting it a try or that i just mount it in it's current condition and i have the paintwork done when they have to fix the damage over the winter..
i also ordered a keyfob on Aliexpress as i saw they have compatible ones, excited to see if they come with a code and are actually going to work
maybe the exhaust if i find one for a good price

I know one or two certified mechanics & a considerable number more who are certifiable.
There are some of that number of who I wouldn’t give the chance to oil the wheels on a rag mans pram.
