Wiper motor refurbishment
Just been sorting a few issues out on the TF.
When I first got it I noticed the wipers were really noisy and slow.
I took the wiper system out this morning.
Removed the motor cover and out fell about a tablespoon of water. Cleaned it all up and sprayed it with SGB and got some waterproof white grease into the gearbox.
It's now much faster and quieter.
The cover is retained by two Torx screws, take those out and pull the cover off. There is quite a strong magnetic field that will try and pull the cover back but don't worry just pull it off. Clean everything but do not mess with the 3 little brushes at the bottom, they are delicate. Give the commutator, that's the segmented part the brushes touch, a good squirt with SGB (WD40 will do at a pinch) and put some waterproof grease into the bearing at the bottom of the cover and reassemble.
At the other end of the motor is a small plastic end-float screw, take this out and squirt some waterproof grease down the hole, re fit screw and nip it up very lightly then back it off by about 1/4 turn.
The screw has a 'split slot' head but a very small screw driver will fit one of the two slots or better still is a pair of small circlip pliers.
Geoff.

That's the point, it's a damage prevention exercise.talkingcars wrote: Mine was filled with rusty water......scraped that motor.

When i fitted a new one, I went all high tech in waterproofing and taped a plastic bag over the motor! Never had an issue since.

G'day and welcome as this is your 1st post, may I recommend that you check out the check list for new members and owners: https://www.the-t-bar.com/forum/54-how-tos/99326-a-check-list-for-new-owners It maybe helpful.Hey mate, I know this post is quite old now but just wanted to say thanks for sharing this because it really helped me today. I had the same problem with my TF wipers being slow and noisy. I took the motor apart and found water inside just like you said. I cleaned everything, sprayed some contact cleaner, and added waterproof grease to the gearbox and bearing. Now the wipers are much smoother and quieter. That part about the strong magnet on the cover and being careful with the brushes was spot on. Appreciate you posting this back then, still useful after all these years.
