This photo dates me a bit! :pinch:
Now that looks like a man in need of a horse. :yesnod:
But if I had a horse I'd need a shovel :nonod:
That pic was WW1. A few years ago my Daughter and I volunteered at a National Historic Site as Living
History instructors. Great fun.
The pic below is a bit more recent historically, but older chronologically.
That is me as a youngster on Devon Island in the Canadian Arctic.
The raised feature behind me is Beechey Island where Franklin's Expedition wintered (1858?) and died.
It has to be the bleakest place on earth. It was snowing there in August, and the only life we saw was Narwhals, Arctic Hares, and Polar Bears. The only plant life was lichen, and precious little of that!
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming..............................

As I've already said, this is one of the most user friendly forums/social networking/informative website around! I showed it to a programmer friend of mine and even he was very impressed!
Distinguishing features already:
Shoutbox - its great to be able to chat informally and off the record with other members who are online.
Events - this is perfectly designed and allows you to find all events quickly and easily. This is a problem I find on .org as it takes someone updating a Sticky.
Members Map - it is incredible to see how many people from all over the world are active on this site, especially to locate members near you.
Latest Forum Posts - When I am online for a period of time, I use this a lot, but go to the 'Recent Topics' under the 'Forum' drop down if I have not been online for some time so I can see what I've missed.
News Feed - this is shadowing FaceBook, but is so much better! It is nice to be able to browse recent pictures etc.
Profile - no tagging of pictures or lots of sillyness - perfect amount of info.
Photos - t-bar and photobucket rolled into one! Allows you to see other people's cars and whatever else they may want to share without starting unnecessary threads. Please do not confuse this with 'Project' threads, which are usually some of the more interesting ones.
Suggestions :yesnod:
More smilies is always fun - I especially like Jan's idea of a 'dumb blonde moment' I think we all have times like this! I think all of Paul's suggestions should be added! David good work on the 'Agree to Disagree' smiley!
It would be handy to have a dedicated 'How To' section as Mark suggests. This could be a drop-down on the Home bar, as Events etc. and would be a very useful point of reference rather than having to trawl through archived threads or use the search facility, but should be MG related only. It isn't that difficult to use the search bar or Google though...
As Clive has mentioned, the site does not work well on phones - the text does not align properly and the right side of the page is cut off.
Suggestions :nonod:
A block button is an interesting idea, but could cause dispute and conflict amongst members, which none of us want.
I don't feel the need to add another MG section for other cars. I am sure any MG enthusiast is welcome here...
I think I am with Clive on the 'Like' button. I must confess, I have wanted to 'Like' a couple of posts, but you can do this by replying and expressing your feelings verbally (or typedly I suppose is more appropriate).

I think it would do the opposite Harri, there will always be on a forum some people one just does not get on with, for whatever reason, someones posts or opinions you just do not want to see or read, a total block button would avoid any conflict, the seeing of personal digs, innuendos can be very hurtful, it could stop any potential arguments, disagreements, from the past or present spilling onto the forum ..

Posted 12 years 7 months ago #47594Smileys - we have a selection as boardcode already, but you're all welcome to use any extras you like, I do.
We already have a welcome smiley, the code is welcome2 surrounded by colons as usual. :welcome2:
How tos are already in their own section, accessed by the orange side bar button.
We will not be having a bock/ignore facility, so we'll :nofight: on that one. Adults can choose to not respond to baiting or to ignore any post they disagree with.
Keep the ideas coming!:yesnod:
