It is very easy to upset the public when out on a run, and the last thing anyone wants is for us all to be pulled over for noise pollution
and what might be perceived as reckless driving ..

It only takes one phone call ..

I for one wish to keep my license intact and clean, there is a time and a place for madness, and noise, that we all enjoy, however in a convoy of 15 cars that is not the time or the place ..

It might be pertinent to check with the MSA as to whether a permit is required for large convoys. I know for our motor club events they are required for scatters, 12 cars etc...

Thanks John, and yes this has been in my thoughts as well, I noticed that Tracy has put a limit of 12 on one of her runs ..

I must stress I am not being a kill joy here, and love speed as much as the rest of you :yesnod:

It's just that when there is a convoy of cars, everyone must behave on busy public roads, it only takes one member of the public to report a group of MG's behaving badly and the whole convoy will get pulled and everyone would be in trouble ..

I understand Daryls enthusiasm at letting everyone hear his exhaust, and I understand, it;s just as I said, although I did not mean to cause a new controversial thread, there is a time and place for everything and a country run, is not the best time and place ..

Our group possibly, some might think stuffy, although if you had been at the BBQ you would have seen we are far from stuffy has implemented some rules, after talking with Allan and a prominent member of a much larger and very well respected MG register, we have followed their guide lines..

Our rules

Following a discussion with Jan we have decided that it is necessary for us clarify a number of points relating to standards expected of Midland Marauders members attending our events.

1. All vehicles which take part should be roadworthy and have a current MOT Certificate, insurance and Road Tax.

2. All drivers should be insured to drive that particular car (either as the insured, named driver or with cover on their own policy to drive cars not belonging to them).

3. All motoring laws to be observed. If you wish to travel everywhere at 130mph we suggest you join MGs On Track.

4. No driving under the influence of alcohol or any other substance which is illegal or affects the ability to drive.

5. Give consideration to other members and the general public when driving in convoy.

6. There should be no behaviour which is likely to bring The Midland Marauders, The T-Bar, MG owners or the wider classic car community into disrepute.

7. Members should enjoy themselves at all times.

I am sorry if we appear to be a tad boring etc but these are our rules and we expect everyone to adhere to them, and realise that a failure to do so will result in them not being invited back..

Nice one Jan. 100% agree.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

As a grumpy man, I feel I can't abide totally to rule 7.

Other than that it seems perfectaly fine, and only sensible

Speaking with my TBar hat on (ooh another good idea!) I endorse the 7 rules put up by Jan.

Anything organised on the forum or under the TBar banner must be law abiding and not irritate the general populace or the police.

We want people to get together and have a great time doing it, but not without regard to other people's feelings.

Participants should also be aware that organising anything like a run or meet is very stressful for the person doing the organising. They need cooperation from those attending, otherwise chaos ensues.
People need to realise that something they do could ruin it for everyone, and the organiser refuse to host any more events.

Luckily, all the events/runs I have attended have followed the seven rules. Especially the seventh!:yesnod:

Nice concise set of important points Jan

I bet it took you longer to compose than it took me to read ;)

Unless anyone can think of something missing perhaps these should be adopted for all the T-Bar runs :yesnod:
