Midland Marauders Event Guidelines
We don't go too fast anyway. We have to keep the speed down so David can keep up.

Whilst I agree with all of Jan's rules, we've never had rules on our BP runs (apart from rule 7!) and we've never needed them...surely it's an assumption (perhaps misguided) that everyone is road worthy and road legal...after that, we expect people to keep to the Highway Code...if they don't, then they do so at their own risk- after all we're a group of adults, but mainly friends who have met up...albeit on the road as opposed to in the pub.
Phil & I often go at the back, and the look on people's faces when they realise that 6, no 7, no 10 no 14 MGs have just gone past is wonderful...by this time they are looking, waving and grinning like idiots!! We have NEVER seen any other reaction and never had any other response- we love being at the back!
Even at our worst moment, when Paul crashed on Buttertubs, we had a number of 1st time runners, including Paul (PQD44) and Mike (mikeb79), both of whom have since attended many other runs, and Mike (a fully trained police pursuit/evasive driver) has certainly organised a few of his own, based on our 'non-rules'
surely there's enough red tape in this world...
To me, the danger of having official rules is that it brings the Border Patrol one step closer to being an official club, which brings an enormous amount of unwanted rules...and responsibility...with it...personally, I DO NOT want that

This thread was created because of comments on another thread, and not by me, although our own group are aware of why the rules were made, and the reasons behind them ..
I am happy to discuss it to a point and no further ..
This will be my last post on the subject ..
It was not a decision that was taken lightly, it was after much thought and discussion, and after being approached by other members wanting an assurance that certain behaviour would NOT be repeated ..
I have now been on 2 runs that were not mine and been dismayed at the disarray one person can cause to an otherwise very well behaved convoy, with drivers who understand what a run is ..
Unfortunately sometimes a newbie comes along and does not listen or understand the way a convoy is run, and is a total disruption to the said convoy with inappropriate driving, speeds and a total lack of regard for the safety of other drivers on the road, or those that are in the convoy ..
Excitement, exuberance, stupidity or just plain showing off. call it what you want, however once again, I will not go out on the road with people who are, by their way of driving are a menace and a danger to others ..
The Border Patrol is well established and respected, with CJJ at the helm, just count yourself lucky that you have not had to experience this, and take the time to think what you would actually do, as a group if you had ..
We are a new group trying to arrange enjoyable outings, and a little support rather than criticism would be appreciated..
So my rules stand, and if anyone objects to them they are more than welcome to remove themselves from the group, and if attendees do not behave I will not allow them on another run..
My members, as have most of us, have spent far too much time, love and money on our prized possessions to risk being involved in an accident because of someone else's stupidity ..
So if we have to implement rules to ensure our runs are enjoyable for all, we will ..
Now I have had enough of being the bad guy here, so will a Mod please lock this thread, as I have no wish to keep explaining our decision, over and over and over again, I also have no intention of naming names, or specific incidents ..............................
