I like the modding here: not many sites where you can joke with the mods about music, cars, tattoos, butt plugs ( yep, Clive.... ;) ) etc etc. have technical arguments, get help etc. and get support.

I'm not a kiss-bottom, far from it, but I will stand up and be counted in support of our mods and admin. So there. If that upsets anyone then tough crap. Other forums are available.

I have been a mod on a cancer support site where you would think everyone would play very nicely. No: think Bongo x 8. And then some.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Can you expand on that?

We have tried our best to do everything in the open to try to ward off comments like that, so I can't see where you are coming from.

No they don't.

The only person that can do it is the owner of the site. We prefer it that way. And it is a search on a database for keywords.

It is a facility that is only used for serious complaints or rule/law infringements. In fact you can count the number of times it has been used on 1 finger.

Every forum has and probably uses this function far more than has been used here.

What would you suggest if someone complains about obscene PMs etc being sent to them? What if the police are investigating a case to do with PMs?

If you want to keep focusing on this and make it look as though the moderators sit and read your PMs on a regular basis then go ahead, but it simply isn't true

On a Kunena base forum, it is possible to see all, given the permissions. Whether you CHOOSE to see all is a different matter. Whether you wish to have that option is a choice. Many don't make that choice. Which is what I think Clive is saying. As a mod on a similar powered forum I elected not to have that permission.

We choose to belong to this forum: it is up to the individual. I can't see any point in discussing whys and wherefores of moderation: I have made my position clear re modding here. I support it. hopefully I haven't (yet) stepped out of line: if I do I expect to be told. If I disagree then I expect my argument to be heard. Things are how they are. this isn't work, its leisure ffs. Enjoying MG's. if the point ever comes when I seriously disagree with protocols of the forum I will quietly disappear. And go back to my Jag forum where we argue about ATF, polish and timing chains.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Andy ... you're not accessing the Asylum are you? .... ask Jack of Hearts, John, Andy or anyone else for a precise by PM (promise not to read it...  )

...or stop being a tightwad and throw Psymon a coin ..... then you can read it for yourself. ;)

argument is healthy john , it'd be a strange old world if we all thought the same thing , we should be able to know where to draw the line ourselves though , we're all adults at the end of the day and shouldnt need our opinions moderating
