One intertesting thing is that you would need a separate starter button from the key ignition.
Although they did tend to be pull rather than press to start.

Floor mounted dip switch for the headlights. Little yellow flags that shoot out the side of the car for indicators. No heater.
On the other hand, chrome bumpers you can jack the car up on, and body panels so substantial you could hit then with a hammer and not leave a dent. A full 'iron girder' chassis. :broon:

Good point David. For that authentic 'chassis' feel I'm going to fill the sill sections with molten lead to add torsional rigidity. Should also alter the C of G for better handling and will bring the sprung weight up to a healthy three and a half tons.

I have obtained a big Bakelite rim steering wheel with horn ring and slidey switch to operate the trafficators. A manual choke that pulls out to 3" and a big black plunger for the washer jets will be fitted in a suitably inaccessible position that hits that nerve in your kneecap. Every time.

The front under bumper fog lamps will be changed for them there rusty chrome units with a blue bit in the middle: mounted on a badge bar with one pointed at the road, the other aligned so as to attract the attention of aircraft. A custom hook will be welded to the front grille to allow easy attachment of lucky heather from off of the moors.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Designed by my Great-Uncle Karscheitenbilden, , from the German side of the family. My inspirational relative. ;)

Frankly, I'm appalled at your suggestion Sir!

As this will be a top-end build, any repairs will be carried out with top quality materials.
Crawfords biscuit tin lid will be self- tappered into place over the rust holes, the heads recessed carefully with the corner of a brick before I smear Aldi body filler over it all with the Wife's icing spatula. Carefully sanding and profiling with a grizzly disc in a drill will result in a flawless surface ready for the Poundland enamel paint.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Can I just admit at this point that I repainted my first car from two tone grey/blue to Shiny Black. I used only top quality materials. Dulux Gloss Black and a 2" Harris brush. :yesnod:

Dulux? Lah de Dah!!
I painted a Wolseley 15/50 lower half with Woolworths Household Enamel cherry red.
A Vitesse convertible with yellow Parsons Repaint (remember that?) and a Mk 2 Cortina with black Parsons.

A mate of mine, when we were student apprentices at the power plant, sprayed his Escort Mk1 with dark blue Hammerite 'borrowed' from work. The fitters told him that when sprayed, the hammer finish didn't happen....... We did try and tell him... It matched the machine shop lathes perfectly.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Homemade hardtop, welded on, slightly twisted, with a lovely Webasto sunroof complete with permanent drip and persistent squeak.
