Maybe it will be all done by camera operators and the fines will be computer generated. Kerching!

Now, don't get me wrong. I do hope that this initiative works. However, I'm also cynical through experiencing corruption too often and I feel that it will just be another 'cash cow'.

I do not beleive most of the poor driving isdown to bad attitude, it is simple ignorance of the rules and lack of training. Nobody is taught how to drive on a motorway, added to this that people who can hardly breathe and walk at the same time are able to gain a driving licence now cars are so easy to operate, means the standard of driving continues to fall.

To say that people with breathing & walking problems must be bad drivers is bullsh*t,
A workmate I knew was disabled [by a car accident in which he was blameless] & bought a converted Celica in which he drove in top rallies with some success.
Also, what about Douglas Bader ;)

most people drive a car with no concern for others as they do not know them therefore do not care what you may think THEY KNOW THEY ARE GOOD DRIVES and he/she will move over in there good time

Roger. I think you've got the wrong end of supercover's stick. He's not having a go at people with physical difficulties, I think he means people who don't have the mental capacity to do two things at the same time. ie Those who can't shit and chew gum at the same time, as they say in the USA.:bust:

Having just driven 20 miles along the motorway in Birmingham, I'm happy to say that it seems that many are taking notice of this new ruling. :yesnod: :broon:

However, it only takes one to be a hog and there's an immediate backlog build up behind them. I never saw any marked police cars on my trip today. I'm sure they'll get them next time.

If there is nothing on the tele you could look at this and see what the Minister was asked to sign-off:

The police, traffic wardens, ticket inspectors and even litter wardens can issue on the spot fines, the one thing they can't do is take cash on the spot, I prefer it this way.

You really don't like lorries do you!

You forgot to add "unless it makes life harder for lorry drivers" as per your comments in a previous thread.

Exactly David. I meant as ameasure of competance to do a complex task, rather than a disability..

Yup, well spotted, Talkingcars. I don't like trucks or their selfish drivers.

Loves, hates, likes and dislikes aside, here's the scores on the doors so far.

It looks like the majority are happy to pay the fines on the spot. Let's hope it makes a difference in contributing to safer and more expedient journeys. :broon:

And this sort of attitude is why people should spend a day in other sorts of vehicles so they understand whet others have to put up with - very few LGV drivers are selfish but all under pressure to get the job done.

Sorry Talkingcars - we will just have to agree to disagree. In my extensive experience, lorry drivers are amongst the most selfish on the road, with the exception (perhaps) of taxi drivers. I don't care about their pressure to deliver loads or whatever else - that doesn't give them the right to turn dual carriageways into parking lots for miles on end while they overtake at perhaps 1 mph faster, uphill, than the heap of cr*p they are overtaking. And it would also be nice if they would learn: mirror, signal, manoeuvre, rather than their normal "indicate and go" technique irrespective of who is coming up behind them at twice their speed. Sorry, pal, I've never met a thoughtful lorry driver yet. Certainly not when they are behind the wheel of their road destroying behemoths. Left to me, I'd bring back a full railway and put these clowns off the road. :tapfoot:
