It's free even if you have a bootleg version of 7 or 8.

Interface wise its a good mix between the plus points of Windows 7 and Metro, I'd go for it.
Only exception is if you are using Microsoft Media Center, as its been dropped in windows 10
Check your third party Application compatibly first, Doubt there is anything you use that won't work though.
Be prepared for the install to take a while, its a big download upto 4.5GB and give your self a spare couple of hours for the upgrade.
Go for it is my advise

Go on then , I'm intrigued , what are you running that's got no Windows components in it
I'm only aware of QNX as a full OS http://www.qnx.com/ which has no windows Code currently, All thought i believe Cortana is moving over to the QNX Car platform in the next release.

Will probably upgrade the PC to windows 10 after a couple of months.
BTW, do you know why it's called Windows 10?
Apparently, seven, eight, niee :coat:

My laptop and desktop are now on the release version (as we got it a few days early) and it's so much better than 8.1 was..... it's the final version of Windows too as MS are swapping to the modular approach that Apple use with their upgrades.
They skipped to 10 to show it's not an 'upgrade' from 8 (although you can upgrade) but a new OS completely.

Posted 9 years 3 months ago #161273The Toughbook I use for my Blackbox MGF diagnostic program is still on XP. Unfortunately the Blackbox software uses
some outlook9 components so can't be upgraded but it's working fine for me so that one will stay XP.

What makes giggle quietly to myself it is still windows vista. and Windows Names don't follow Version numbers correctly.
Every time MS rewrite the Kernel (the bit which makes it all work) they change the major major version.
Windows 2000 was 5.0 , XP used the Win 2000 Kernel and had Version number 5.1 , New Kernel was written for Vista and Version number was v6.0
Windows 7 was v6.1 , Windows 8 v6.2 , Windows 8.1 v6.3 , all the preview Versions of Windows 10 were v6.4.
Meaning Windows 10 is still Basically Vista with the Colours changed and everything moved around again so you still can't find it.
MS have obviously realised giving Windows a numerical name and version number which have no relation to each other is a bit odd. As the RTM of 10 is actually labelled as V10 (actually 10.0.10240).
