I'm with Dave B on this...I upgraded all my PCs to OS X etc a while ago..and got my weekends back...it was worth every penny..I've got XP as a VM on my Mac but that will go soon although that was the best ever PC OS IMO.. sadly no longer supported...

Do you have a little window icon at bottom right on the task bar? If you hover on it it should say 'Get windows 10'
If so it will download automatically when Microsoft get around to you.

If you don't have the little icon, you will have to download and run a little patch programme that fixes whatever issue is preventing the little icon from appearing.

Just upgraded my spare 7 year old Dell Optiplex 745 (the just in case PC) and it went without a hitch. It is MUCH snappier compared to 8.1 that it was running previously.

If you can't wait, you can download 10 now!
Here's a how to-read this first
Go here for 64bit version
Go here for 32bit version

If you don't know which version you are currently running then you probably need to wait for Microsoft
It's a big download and unless you have reasonably quick broadband, forget it!

I'd never have a new OS. :nonod:

Usually they're buggy for a while, until you suckers finish beta testing it for them. :yesnod:

Hmmm. I was impressed until it all started going wrong...
Start button doesn't work now, Cortana doesn't work, Edge browser has vanished. Not happy!
Can't access any of the bloody apps either.

Still struggling with the above faults, but overall 10 is performing much better/faster than 8.1 even in a 'wounded' state. So I've decided to stick with it and hope a fix arrives from microsoft.

It appears that this problem is quite common, judging by the internet traffic on the subject.

So to sum up, I still don't have a proper start button/menu function. I can live with that.
Cortana doesn't work, but I don't really want to have conversations with my laptop.
The new browser is absent, but honestly I prefer Firefox. EDGE DID HAVE SOME NICE FEATURES. I especially liked the ability to write or draw onto a web page.

My verdict, for what it's worth:- Don't rush to download it but overall it is certainly better than 8. I can't judge if it's better than 7.
