Today, just grease points and tappets on the B but I did this a couple of days ago and surprisingly, they work.

If the past owner already did a radio swap put (some Sony), do I need to be cautious of any codes when swapping into a new one?

I saw a thread a while back that when changing the battery you need to be careful to not get locked out. When I got the car, no such codes came with it. Does this mean it's basiclally permenantly unlocked?
Yes, I think most aftermarket units no longer have a code, I certainly can't recall the last time I saw one with a code.

I agree about a code.
I fitted a Pioneer, didnt like it so changed to a Blaupunkt and neither had codes which I am thankful for.

Frankly I doubt I’d hear anything above the background noise so the radio/sound aspect is of moderate value.
However a unit with the larger screen that slides out and tilts could be useful if connected to a reversing camera. Has anyone got one that works well, is easy to operate, fits the size slot, and has the reverse feature.

Personally I’d still use a Sat Nav mounted on the screen in a position that would probably fail the MOT as changing focus and attention from road to Sat Nav is minimal.
Ideally I’d like to have the tilt up screen tilt down so gauges can still be seen (particularly water temp). But they don’t seem to be available.
Any suggestions?

I bit the bullet and went for the Pioneer AVH-Z7259BT Car Stereo with the Pioneer RCAMAVIC Reversing Camera. I'm very happy with results even though it was a hit to the bank balance. I started out looking for a good phone holder at least now I don't have to worry about that! Apple CarPlay covers everything you need.

Another option for radio is the Pioneer SPH-C10BT that has a cradle for your phone. Also allows OBD-11 Widgets to be displayed.
