Hi All
Slight problem with 2 hoses and where they go. Bought an Mgf last year as spare or repair . Parts had been removed in an attempt to repair the car and placed in the boot.
finally got around to rebuilding it to get it off the driveway and into storage so i need it running. Two small hoses at end of upper manifold ( see photo ) with no obvious place to go. Can't find anything online that clearly shows where to connect. Would be grateful for any assistance.

I have a TF..but does the F have a charcoal canister?
If so is it fitted or has it been removed?
They look like they could come from there.

My MGF has a charcoal cannister but it is not VVC, is it possible that the longer hose goes to where the short hose is coming out?

I put a VVC inlet manifold onto an MGF the other year to replace the original plastic manifold and am pretty sure thats a vaccuum hose that goes to a take off point at the end of the manifold. I can only see 2 hoses but is there a single or double spiggot on the inlet manifold taht cant be seen here ?
I had to modify the pipewok here a bit given slight variations in pipework between years so ended up using a Y junction joiner to join 3 vaccum pipes together there. If thats what you need then a Y piece joiner made for a windscreen washer pipework could do the job.

Hi All
Thanks for the replies.Originally i thought somthing was missing but now I'm thinking both hoses join up. There is a charcoal filter fitted at the other side of the manifold.  Pretty sure they are vacuum hoses. I'll pick up a connector and go from there although I might take the upper manifold off and have look underneath.
Just got the expansion tank to fit, fill and bleed then start her up. Thanks again for the replies.

Some people do away with the charcoal filter. As i understand it i think it just provides a breather for the fuel tank to prevent the smell of petrol that could otherwise be present.

I've never had an F or TF that didn't have a smell of petrol. I'll take a look at the charcoal filter another day when i have the time. The F was sold to me as a suspected blown head gasket because it was overheating I discovered a leak in the thermostat that seemed to cause the overheating. It's been sitting in my drive for a year and the wife want's it gone so it's going in to storage for the moment. I'm busy getting my TF through it's MOT at the moment but will look into removing the charcoal filter from the F.

If the solution is to join up, check the OD
if it is metric 6 or 8mm or 10mm for instance the fitting shown is very good and cheap enough.
Because of the thick wall of the hose it will be fine on vacuum, thin wall tube can collapse under vac, but that tube will be ok.
These fittings seal on internal O rings, usually good up to 80c and down to 0 degrees.
Also of course they are quick disconnect by pulling the blue collet towards the fitting body.
I have used them on coolant systems too, but specific fittings are needed for water.
Fitting shown is Festo, ignore that, bloody expensive German nonsense.
Of course if the o.d. is not regular, all this is an utter waste of words.
