Pipercross Viper
Have suceeded in taking a big lump out of the top of the resonator box, after unbolting started motor and mounting plate (that was a mission in itself).
Can anyone suggest the best way of cutting up the resonator box to get it out?

Thought I'd post a few piccies of the work so far, which I will make into a 'how to' when completed
Here's all the bits for the install:
Checked to make sure everything fitted together (hence the lack of jubilee clips) and to make sure the unit would be in the correct place to secure to bracket. Arrowed from left to right: 80mm/70mm reducer elbow, 70mm alloy connector, 70mm pipe and LOVELY new throttle body
This is what you have once the filter box is removed.
The red arrow shows the pipe that goes into the resonance chamber on the left. This has to be removed to allow the inlet pipe from the nearside vent enter the engine bay.
The green arrow shows the air filter box mounting bracket that goes to the left up and over the resonance chamber.
The yellow arrow shows the two small pipes that make it nearly impossible to remove the bracket, as there are 3 bolts that are obstructed by them that you have to remove. You also have to unbolt what I think is the starter motor from the plate, but that's no problem.
Last pic is work in progreess (bad light stopped play). Green arrow is the resonance pipe that's blocking the way for the inlet pipe. Yellow arrow is the air filter box mounting plate (now moved clear). Red arrow shows fuel filler pipe, which means taking a lot of care when attacking resonance pipe.
We should be having another go tomorrow, hopefully with my mate's dremmel

It's not for an F so I've ordered a 45 elbow as well.
Following your installation saga with interest........

i think i got one from Aldi for £20. Obviously not a Dremel, but works just as well.
Any small battery driven drill type thing would do(technical language)

Rob TF wrote: lol, that was going to be my next question, where is the best place to put the caf? i was thinking side air vent, but read that at speeds air will just flow past the vent and not in (if that makes sence) i also though about under the car, but think it will suck to much crap or standing water up. also it might catch on speed bumps etc
so where is best?
n/s vent. That's where mine is. Never had a problem.
