Wind stops.. Is it worth getting one?

Wind stops.. Is it worth getting one? was created by Leigh Ping

Hi, been driving in my newly purchased TF, with the roof down mostly, the last couple of days of glorious sunshine. Drove a couple hours at motorways speeds (and then some) without any complaints of major wind 'buffeting'. Was I just lucky?

So, is it worth getting a wind stop / deflector? Any advice from those that know the difference in 'before and after' fitting one would be much appreciated. Are then any other benefits? ie;- Does it keep the cabin warmer? Will it stop the wife's new hair do lashing her face? (Not sure if that's a problem or a bonus yet) :).

I've never bothered, I generally use the passenger window up method.

Just had a 40 mile spin with the roof down. Yeah, I know it's 3 in the morning but it's 17c here :). Tried the drivers window trick. Pretty neat.. would never have thought of that. :)

I find the mesh one the best option.

Having the windows open is OK on a nice day, but I have the roof down when raining sometimes.

The plexiglass type are OK, but I find a bit more buffeting at speed, and if you follow someone with one on you will see it reflecting the sun.

Hmm, in that case I may need a re-think, as I was looking at a plexi. Cheers for the input.

I started off with a mesh one, but I now have one integrated with my hoops which is glass. The mesh one was more effective, but the glass one looks better imo

Mesh windstop is the most effective, But generally, you can't use it with hoops. :nonod:

Thanks for all the advice and points of view guys. I'll probably try the clear plastic one as, funny as it might seem, I put the roof down mainly at night after finishing a grueller.

That brings up a good point...I have a mesh stop and find the top bar is right in my line of view in the rear view mirror.
The cler plastic would solve that problem.
