Getting under the car
My live feed comes from the cigarette lighter, which is an easy connection, so is only live when the car is running but I was concerned that the boot release could be operated when the car was moving, as the release button is a modified switch blank (hiden in plain sight )
I discovered that the handbrake switch only has 1 wire, which is the earth from the warning light. Therefore by using this as the earth for the switch the switch will only work when the handbrake is on, which eliminates the boot open in motion scenario
I can post some pics and a wiring diagram if anyone thinks they will find this useful.

Also need to raise the back of the exhaust about 2cm, so will attack that as well.
rear calipers still need repainting, but I'm slowly running out of steam after the gear cable saga

Electronic boot release installed.
Reverse lights fixed.
As I had the console out I replaced the hazard switch bulb, illuminated the cigar lighter and put all the trim back in today.
Just need to make a small height adjustment to the TT Mk4 exhaust tomorrow morning and then off to play on the GB 9-Ball tour this weekend
Got a nice set of 'nearly new' red/black leather seats and Mk 2 doorcards today which I shall put in on Monday.
Working 12 hours Tuesday and Wednesday and then off with the wife for 19 days touring around the west of England and Wales :woohoo:
Painting the rear calipers will have to wait until after now.
