IF you get it before I get back from Dinner (I'm hungry) and I KNOW Brian will know the answer, please carry on with a new post?

As 24 hours have now elapsed, I will have a go at Mr Forgetful's question.

Those small lights on the top of the wing are Lucas side lights.

The side lights on the MGA came in three forms

1.) sidelights in the lower part of the amber indicator.

2.) sidelights on top of the wing as shown in the photo you posted

3.) sidelights below the headlights. Sometimes these lights were fitted with dual filament bulbs to double as indicators.

The actual car shown is one of the Lancashire Police MGA's.
MGA's were delivered to the Lancashire Constabulary from Nov 1955 until 1960. The wing mounted sidelights were added to cars delivered after Oct 1957. Previously they had no wing mounted sidelights.

Here you see a Zephyr and MGA from the Lancashire Police

Thank you Paul - I have just got back in .

I had thought that this would manage a bit of interest as I can trace no record of MGA's and their purchase by the police forces (including Glamorgan and another I cannot identify) in preveious quiz questions. I do try to set something that gives us all a fresh insight into MG's especially for those, like me, who have to research questions and answers. :bang: (Not always easy!!)

Oh well, I tried - thank you again Paul - over to you for the next question. :broon:

Mr Forgetful I thought it was a good question, but it looks like the MG Quiz faithful don't like Mondays :slapme:

OK here is a bit of research for you

1) Name the car
2) Name the major change that took place just a year before it was replaced
3) Name the famous owner of one of these whose father had a factory in Trafford Park just outside Manchester

I'll post more of the car if people cant get it from this

If I was being picky I'd have to say it was 24 hours Bryan :P

1.)The car is the M Type, well done

3.) Henry Ford built the first Ford mass production line factory in the UK at Trafford Park, just west of Manchester. His son Edsel was a big fan of the M type and as you said exported one from here back to the US.

:nonod: Unfortunately 2.) is not the model specific change I'm looking for. The M Type was replaced in 1932, use of the MG Logo began well before this.

So still up for grabs, can you say;

2.) Name the major change that took place just a year before it was replaced

I think the "BODY" gets it :woohoo: I had thought it was the EXE120 (developed from the M type in 1931) thats a dramatic body change!!!!!, to acheive over 100mph in February 1931.

I have added a picture of a 1929 M Type Salonette for interest :yesnod:

I hate to disagree with a Mod :bust: but I think Brian really got it - he was 2½ to my ½. :yesnod: In any case, that will give US a chance to pick holes with his QUESTION because we will never get the answer!! :nonod:

So, with your permission Paul - BRIAN - where are you - and please, please, please, don’t set one about the Whitworth size of the hexagonal nut that fixes the whatnot to the thingamajig
