Thinking of selling Slave 1...

After all the loving care and work you have put in the MG, it would be worth the sacrifice to have less than luxurious 4 seat transport.
I know your brother is special to you, and he is lucky, not many sisters would do as you are doing.
Would he be able to help in any way towards a small car perhaps? Times are hard, and many people are finding things difficult, but it seems that if you could just stretch time a little, and get past todays problems, tomorrow may well be a bit less of a strain.
I'm also guessing that the car you want is going to cost more than you will get for yours, if so, maybe the difference will get a small car.
Have you looked at ebay etc. and found the highest and lowest figures you would get for yours? I was going to sell mine, but after seeing what I would get for it, decided to wait and think again in six months time or so.
You are doing the right thing helping your brother, but it would be even better if you didn't have to totally give up your part as well

Actually a wedge is not a bad idea... they are VERY VERY cheap - If you get the 1.6 HONDA engined 'pre M Reg' one they are ULTRA reliable and economical - Parts are DIRT CHEAP - I could go on.
I had a 216 GSi and I loved it to bits... it drove like a Honda (which of course it is really - Concerto) - but it was HUGE inside.
If you go to Admiral and do a Multicar policy with Slave 1 on a low mileage thingy I am sure it wouldn't be too bad... plus you could probably pick up a decent wedge for a couple of hundred quid. Just an idea!
Whatever happens you are the girl who brought us all together... just stay in the MGR fold and we will still love ya! Hehe (we will anyway but MGR rocks!)

Not sure I would agree that "this forum is going nowhere", I think it's doing rather well...

a big plus 1 on that :yesnod:
enjoy your time with your brother and niece... in the mean time start planning Slave 2!
i do reckon you should try and stick the car back to as standard as possible before selling (if only to get more for the car and the aftermarket parts separate) obviously this may not be possible due to time constraints but every penny counts!

After all as I said about GW when you were copping flack from some people for breaking her, when it all come down to it, its just a car. they are still making them and your next one will be better because of what you have learned from Slave 1. Besides next time maybe you will turn from the darkside and get a white one

:grouphug:
Lol the dark side rocks!
Thanks Craig. I have no doubt I'll pick up an F again because I know I'll miss top down driving and imho Fs/TFs are still the best looking affordable convertibles out there. I mean let's face it they're just plain sexy! :drool5:
So now it's just about waiting until I can financially afford both. Until then I'll just be happy that in saying goodbye to Slave 1 I'm gaining more time with a brother I haven't seen for years and my neice. :yesnod:

As I said in my previous posts financially it's completely undoable to buy a second car. I mean it's not even within the realm of possibility. We've not been paid since last November and if it isn't enough we've had to live on pennies for the last couple of months we now need to raise £2,500 to move house. That's just the letting agents fees, on top of that we need money for van hire, final bills and more. Our situation is grim as it is... we are and have been selling parts of our beloved film collection to live and to fund the move so believe me when I say I don't have a spare tenner let alone enough for a second car.
Anyway that aside... I actually quite like this ZS... it looks pretty damn good imho... it's not like I'm buying a mazda or anything! I still love MGR! Plus as it's still an MG I get to keep the private plate so you see it's not all bad! :yesnod:

Thanks Adam. I'll deeply miss my F but I must admit I feel comforted by the fact I'm able to stay in the MGR fold! And this just gives me time out to plan what F I'll get next! And it won't be blue CJJ!!!

Thank you Chris. That really means a lot to me.
And you're right I still adore Fs/TFs and I still feel a passion for them so I guess I am in the right place!

Beside, if I end up winning the LE500 from auctionair, maybe we can come to an arrangement where you look after it until I can afford to get it shipped to Tassie, that should give you a good 10 or 15 years of motoring pleasure before you have to buy your own.....lol

I think we have a plan Lady Kara, now all we have to hope for is the LE500 goes for GBP 37.00.
I have to admit it was one of those drunk computer moments
"Wow a low bid auction for an LE500, gotta have a go at that!" the next morning was "I bid on what? How the F**k am I going to get that out here!"..................LMAO
