Thinking of selling Slave 1...

But that aside, hats off to you for even thinking about putting your brother first like this, a lot of people wouldn't.
I see your point but there are people out there who just like modified cars so that's an added market right there. Also remember you & Don were thinking about paying £1100 for Goldenwheels even without an engine! So modified cars can't be too unpopular. And of course people aren't stupid and will see that she's worth paying more for even to break for parts... oooh that's a really painful thought. :frown:

that pretty much covers what I wanted to say as well.:dunno:
Are you even sure your brother would be happy for you to do this on his behalf?
But, your car - your choice.:yesnod:
Well I haven't asked him... I wanted it to be a special suprise.
Oooh I'm really conflicted on what I want to do and what I should do. :frown:

I have a brother who's situation is possibly not a million miles from your brother's, and I love him, like a brother in fact, and I would do a lot for him and have done a lot, TBH, but sell my dream car to buy a saloon, nope!
Think of the pleasure the little one will get when Auntie Kara takes her for an open-topped ride in GS1.

If it were my brother and no matter how much I love my car, family would come first. I'd help my brother no doubt about it. It would be sad to see Slave 1 go, but in my eyes family is more important than a car.

I'm sure he would feel a bit guilty but it's about dramatically improving the options he has when he spends time with her. And as for taking Layla in Slave 1 - I wouldn't make her leave her daddy behind!
Although I have to admit I'm touched by what you said... that's the first time I've been called an Aunt. :thanks:

My way of thinking is the 2 car route. I know you say you can't afford 2 cars, but bear with me.
A Citroen Saxo 1.1L can be bought for around £600, you will pay many times more than that to sell yours and buy a 2004 MG.

Or even an AX. Great little run around (I used to have one). Cheap to run, cheap to service and cheap to tax.

The road tax is £125 a year, that is around £10 a month. You can get multicar policies for insurance, so it wouldn't cost that much more for the second car, especially with a value of £600.
Fuel wise will be cheaper to run than the F.
A lot of people fall into the trap of thinking that running 2 cars costs twice as much, that is wrong. If you are the only driver then you will only cover the same mileage as if you only had one car. That means fuel, tyres, servicing etc will come around half as regularly for each car (if you know what I mean) so overall there will be no difference. It also means that you have an emergency car. The chances of being stuck because both cars are broken are pretty slim.
The choice is yours, but my thinking would actually save you money and mean you keep the F.
It also means that if circumstances change you can sell on the Saxo (or similar) for little loss (if any) and be in no worse position than you are now.
As I keep saying, the choice is yours and your motives are noble, but there are other options available to you.
