A couple of months ago I did the Aiketgate LED Daytime Running Light install on my MGF. The lights work great but the DTRL control box switches the lights on whenever the ignition is on.
This isn't such a bad thing but I don't like having them on when I am sitting in the car doing the crossword in the lot at work. No sense attracting attention even if I am on my own time!

Looking for a spot to put a switch without drilling a hole in the dash I noticed a gap between the steering column and the dash, so made up an aluminum bracket to hold a switch.
The switch I used was off E-bay, has a warning light to let you know when the circuit is on and cost next to nothing...With free postage! Here it is in place.

Here is the bracket before painting. It mounts using the screw that holds the steering column shroud in place, and is very solid.
This would be the ideal location for a hidden boot-pop switch as well.

I fitted one from Rimmers to Mrs TC's ZR, drove to POL and removed it as it had curled up. :(

Were you going topless? In which case well done. However time for a heated glass rear screen from you know who.

Aye R I was indeed topless, but was less happy driving along than normal with my broken back window :(

I've already contacted Peter and have a new hood on the way with a glass screen. It will fold down even with X power hoops. :woo2:

Last night I popped the throttle cable of at the engine end and squirted as much WD40 as I could get to go in there.... Used tape to seal the WD 'pipe' to the throttle cable 'gap' and squirted a bit, pushed cable in and out etc... Seems a bit smoother on pushing the throttle now.

Also gave both cars a wash... Michael the Rangie almost changed colour as I hadn't washed the poor thing since October I think! (also last week had an 'almost fire' on Michael as the fuse box circuit board failed and the main power cable arc'd so badly it got hot and melted the insulation! Managed to get another fuse box and fitted it yesterday - all is well again now with him.)

I finished wiring in the heated seats, just connecting to power and tiding up the wires. I then ran the car for a bit with the seats on to test them which dried them off nicely but meant all the windows misted up.

Took the TF to "welovemgfs" in Pelsall to have a replacement glass screen hood fitted.
The old one was tatty & the water proof membrane wasn't :nonod:
Big improvement & the windows seal better. Also it was fine in the rain on the way home.
So for under £200, well pleased.
