Hi wonder if anyone happens to know where splice SJ30 is located in a MGF/TF -think its the same location in both models.
The splice connects togther all purple wiring for clock /radio/diag socket/footwell lamps and the one I am interested in -the rear loadspace (boot) lamp.( from FUSE 3 on a 2003 onwards TF)
I wnat to use the wiring for the boot lamp ( the lamp is a power drain liability in my opinion anyway) to wire up a boot release switch -so would be really handy to brake into the purple wire before it gets to the SJ30 splice and the fuse F3
thnaks

Have you looked at the wiring on the boot hinge in first instance? . This is a notorious point of failure and is easy to resolve by replacing the wires that move when the hinge opens

Is your car an f or a tf? I find the f circuit diagram easier to follow when cross referencing the electrical drawings. The drawings have a tremendous amount of information but you have to read the preamble to fully understand the nomenclature.
When referring to both circuit & electrical diagrams I have both open on my computer & toggle between the two.
Once you have broken through the electricity panic barrier, locating any item becomes procedural.
I can’t help you directly with resolving your problem as I’m in a church yard somewhere in England, but as you have had the foresight to ask on T-bar, you’re obviously bright enough to work this through, once your neurones are lined up correctly.
Best of luck.

With the assumption that Pektron MG TF have the splice SJ30 at same position as Lucas MG F & MG TF, we can see that distance from splice is as follows:

1.0 square mm wire from fuse box - 88.5 cm
0.5 square mm wires from:
- load space lamp - 484.5 cm
- front interior lamp (rear view mirror) - 214.5 cm
- diagnostic socket - 92.5 cm
- radio - 35 cm
- analogue clock - 44.5 cm
- footwell lamp LH side - 44 cm
- footwell lamp RH side - 79 cm

After seeing all these measures I see that radio has the shortes path to the splice point. Second one is LH side footwell light. So I assume that splice point should be on the LH side behined the radio.

These distances, wire gauges, colours etc & other information on the drawings make this information indispensable.
These are the “map references” to guide you to that “X” spot.

How odd.
Thanks for that.
I have now been able to complete my profile, birthdate and all.
I was pleased to note I could allow members only to access any profile information,
I think I may be getting paranoid,
