Well well well, this is interesting. The decomposing dog as Cobber so eloquently put it has disuaded me on more than one occasion from exploring under the tin tray, waiting instead for several jobs to accumulate. So I too have chosen to replace the delaminated rag with recon high density foam. And I acknowledge minimaxes comments on the advantage of using bituminous pads. Recon foam is readily available on ebay, I used 1.5inch thick (or for those who are more continental than I 3.81cm) & although I've no doubt that bituminous pads would deaden more of the drumming, I've pressed bituminous lead backed flash banding into use. As I'm going deaf the subtitles of a superior product is lost on me & as it was drumming during my rock & roll years that cost me my hearing I no longer give much of a bugger.
The entire episode cost less than £30.
