Radio and oil gauge not working! Help
Hi all!
I am new to this forum and my 03 mg tf so please forgive me if I have overlooked something.
I recently had a dead battery, I got that changed and started her up only to see the radio isn’t switching on at all (like it’s not plugged in) and the oil gauge has stopped working as well.
Is this because of the battery change and are these two linked somehow?
I haven’t checked the connections of the radio yet, will be surprised if somethings loose as it was working fine up until now.
Many thanks!
Mike

Its worth just checking the fuses. If this is your first visit to the forum you will find some useful wiring diagrams on here. Download the 'Rave' manuals that include these. Some very good information there and elsewhere on here, useful resource.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I have checked all fuses and all are okay.

I have a recollection that they are on the same fuse, switched in position 1 on the ignition switch & somehow I recall that circuit is protected by fuse 17. Im far away from my circuits so could be monumentally adrift.

Yes, Fuse number 17 in fusebox under steering wheel controls both radio and oil gauge, so you need to check that fuse. Replace it even it looks good and see.

Bloody hell ! That’s not bad for an old geezer who couldn’t remember what I was supposed to be doing the other day when I found myself at the top of the stairs with a load of towels in my arms. Was I supposed to be putting them in the airing cupboard having brought them upstairs, or was I taking them downstairs having got them from the airing cupboard !
We do still drive on the left don’t we, as today there seemed to be a lot of cars coming towards me on what I always assumed was “my side of the road”? Just checking I hadn’t missed something. Or just forgot.

There can also be an issue of damaged wiring around the stereo unit. There is a fair amount of sharp metal that can give rise to odd electrical issues.
