I bought a leather one from ebay and an M10 x 16 x 50mm internally threaded short bar which has stuck solidly inside the knob.
I really did not like the alu knob.

I don’t object to the aluminium knob, what I did object to was the length of the original f gearstick, nor did I like the matching knob. The entire assembly was ridiculous & until I took the gearstick yoke in hand I tolerated it.
Cutting the stick down created another problem, I had to cut the original thread off & this is when the aluminium knob came my way.
I had to bore out the knob to accommodate the 1/2” shaft, I then drilled & tapped three grub screw holes, with corresponding detents in the stick.
That is how it has remained but with an aluminium tube over the shaft to bulk it out.

I’ve been through a few iterations of gear knob, not really settled on anything I really liked, tried a leather one but that turned out to be poorly made, I’ve also tried a wooden one but not really happy with that either, On the look out for something that is well made that I’m happy with.

There is a Momo gear knob that was fitted to the MGF 160 Trophy. I got mine for £25, years ago. However they are now silly money!
