I have this fault code. Can anyone shed a little light? Mems 1.9. Car starts and runs fine so sensor must be working.
“crank sync (not normally a fault)” also appears.
I’ve searched this forum but can’t see any answers.
Thanks in advance.

Try clearing the fault......if it comes back you have a problem, if it stays cleared you don't!

Puzzled am I.
The error codes included “coolant temp sensor”
As this is easier to replace than the crank position sensor, I changed it.
Both crank sensor error messages disappeared, along. with the coolant sensor message.
How can there be any connection?
I have one crank position sensor now going cheap….

Sounds like the crank sensor fault was a glitch in the code reader. A crank sensor fault would probably stop the car running...

Thanks. I did clear fault codes 2 or three times.
I’m new to pscan but I hope glitches are not part of the package.

My car status is the same with your car. Will you solve it?

pscan has had bugs and probably still does.  As we find them I will fix them as best as I can.  It's just like any other complex software product in that way.

Just seen this. I hope you saw my post saying changing the coolant temp sensor caused the crank position sensor fault to disappear

Just done a routine scan. “crank Position Sensor” is back ☹️
Cleared it once but it came straight back. Cleared it again and it stayed cleared. With engine running Pscan tells me crank is “synced” even while the fault code is active.
No starting or running issue.
Is this a genuine fault or a diagnostic/software fault? This is driving me crazy. Do I spend £40 to change the sensor or would I have been better off keeping the pscan cost and not knowing?

It could just be a crap electrical connection bad enough to be throwing up faults but not bad enough to notice running, check and clean the electrical connections in the wiring to the crank sensor, also don't forget the earthing.

If everyone else's car is behaving the same as yours, then no.
Also, it might not be the sensor.
I have cars which if the battery is not really strong, will get end up with dozens of error codes.
For example with my Jag if the battery is even a little bit weak, the engine will start but I end up with the dash lit up like a christmas tree and an electronic parking brake that won't release.
