Software version 043C
Either, or both.Hi, I bought a pscan back in 2015. It worked great, but I havent used it since 2016/17. I only installed it on one laptop, (running XP), which still works.
Do I just run the latest install? On the old laptop or a new laptop with Win10/11?
Thank you!
pscan works on XP and on Window 10/11 so it's your choice. Two laptops are supported so you can do both. Personally I would say that an old worthless laptop is ideal for working on cars. A workshop or drive where you fix your car is a rougher environment than a desk inside your house or office or whatever.

Well there you have it......In this instance, AI clearly is not the friend it would like you think it to be! 🤣
Not recommended. Virtualbox isn't supported and probably won't work.I would just use the old laptop if that still works, but if it won't run on windows 11, you can create a virtual machine : install Oracle Virtualbox on you win 11 machine, and google for a virtuabox windows XP image. For accessing the USB port from the virtual machine, you need to configure that in your virtualbox settings. But AI is your friend, so won't be too hard.

AI clearly hasn't understood this webpage

where it says

the pscan software has to maintain some quite complicated protocols some of which are timing critical. Putting a complete software operating system between the interface and the pscan software is going to add latency and other problems. This software is designed to function only on operating systems that are directly installed onto your computers.
Virtualised operating systems are not supported.

Thanks everyone. Sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread. I downloaded the latest install and ran it on the old laptop (Win XP). It updated the firmware without a hitch.

You can update to the latest software whether you have a 1.2 metre cable or the newer 30cm cable. The new software works just fine with either cable.Any update on whether we can purchase the 30cm cable. My serial number is 00001341 so don't want to update as i then can't use my 1mtr cable. Hence want to purchase new cable
The only reason to need a shorter cable is if you want to use pscan on a vehicle with CANbus and it doesn't work with the 1.2m cable.
If you don't have a CANbus vehicle then you don't need the 30cm cable.
If you have a CANbus vehicle and it works with the 1.2m cable, then you don't need the 30cm cable.
