Hi,
It maybe worth having a look at Rough Luck Racings web site.
I know that they used to get around quite a bit, UK wide and most of Europe.

I should explain that the car wouldn't cost me anything to purchase so the only cost would be the rebuild.
I'm tempted but those liners worry me.

I have been offered a 1981 vvc that I'm interested in restoring BUT!
The car was taken off the road due to head gasket failure, the head was removed a few years ago and the liners don't look great 😒
Can I hone this or am I just kidding myself?

Hi Len,
yes you need to remove the wind deflector.
Undo the 2 plastic wing nuts and remove the bolts that locate the deflector then you will have access to the Allen bolts that fix the mounts to the car.

Hi Len,
the car has been parked for a while now and goodness knows when it was last serviced so I would go with the advice to give the engine a flush before getting into anything more serious.

Hi, yes it is the motor making a racket
I was just wondering if it was normal as ours have always been noisy, even now after fitting a new motor on our own car it's still not quite.
I have recommended that he should order a new motor for his car as I don't think the one that I fitted will last very long.

So, today I have been helping a neighbour that has recently purchased a mk2 F.
He took it for a m.o.t and it failed on a few things, nothing major..the horn didn't work nor did the wipers, there a a few other jobs to do..rear track control arm and binding brakes (it's been stood for a while) other than that it's a really tidy car.
I managed to sort out the horn problem with a replacement clock spring and the wipers with a replacement (2nd hand) motor.
The neighbour commented that the now working wipers were noisy and was this normal?
Our wipers are quite loud tbh and I had always thought that it was just another quirk but it got me wondering if everyone has noisy wipers?

I think that the idea behind the "super lock " facility was to prevent someone from reaching in and just pulling the locking button whilst the hood is down.
Why should that disable being able to gain access via the use of the key?

I was just suggesting the easy options to try 1st.
