Now basic vacuum filling kits have fallen in price to an affordable £ 20 to £ 30 are there any tips on using one please on the F / TF. For instance do any of the bleed points have to be opened as per the manual process or is the whole job done via the expansion tank ?

Have just re-bled mine, and have a Q - the radiator bleeding screw was fine - lots of bubbles then after a couple of mins - none... moved onto the second bleed screw and nothing came out... closed that and moved to the thirs screw in the engine bay and that bled lovely - closed back up, and tried the second but nothing again... the heater dial was turned to off but the engine was off obviously... although am I supposed to run the fan or something - is that why, or may I just have a blockage somewhere?

You said"the heater dial was turned to off" I presume you meant to say the heater dial was turned to ON
It certainly needs to be ON, because that is the only way to allow flow.
Also, I think the standard procedure is to do the sequence of 3 bleed points, engine OFF first, then do again with the engine hot and still on tickover when you re-bleed. CAUNTION: boiling-hot coolant!
Some people find that the whole procedure needs to be repeated several times to eliminate all trapped/ previously dissolved air.

The bleed point on the heater matrix is prone to getting blocked.
Remove the bleed nipple and poke a thin piece of wire down into the hole, this should clear any blockage then repeat the bleeding process with the heater set to hot.
