Hope it all works out in the end its just a big shock to the system. My stepdad mally went from being deputy to postman in 12 months. Nat's grandad luckily got out as overman with massive pension just in time and retired at 45 the lucky so and so.l

The future for the mine though doesn't look good, if the company was keen, then maybe it would reopen, but from what you say that doesn't look likely
At least you have loads of transferable skills and experience, fingers crossed you find something very soon :hugs:
Thankyou Maggy :hugs: , guessing my luck's just not in at the minute, I repaired my bumper & indicator this week after the FRL incident but struggling to get the other person to pay now, ignoring calls, texts and pm's on the other site
As for work I'm sure something will turn up just don't know if I'm being paid or not now though

When the pits were open it was thriving, the community spirit has gone and as its a down and out area all the low lifes of the world are shipped in. Half of my family have worked in the pits and I'm not saying its the safest of careers but it was a solid job and lots enjoyed working in the pits. I can't agree more and most people I know will be having a street party when maggs pops her clogs!

I'm from northumberland myself, only moved to the midlands in 2005 to stay in mining lol. but I also come from a mining family/background where we also love Mrs T
just left in limbo at the moment we're getting 60% pay which will cover the mortgage and very little else and then told they will contact us at some point in the future, would have been better off being made redundant

Some wish Mrs T was dead. I want her to live to be 140 so she can experience every painful disease.
When she does do us all a favour then every Northerner shall link arms along the Great North Road and rejoice. Then go to the pub and get mortalled in joy.
If she gets a state funeral stand by for peacefully protesting cloth cappage in force in London.
Oops, politics. Sorry.
3 2 1 .... Back in the room Which pit are you at now?

I wasn't one of them. My Granddad immigrated from North Shields because he hated going underground, and frankly it doesn't appeal to me either.

Seems its happening everywhere in the world then! working underground doesn't bother me in the slightest, once you get used to it. the worrying thing for me is settling into a job that isn't mining as a lot of "pit humour" and methods of work, wouldn't be tolerated anywhere else
we even started looking into emigration last year to either australia or canada but both countries seem to be closing their borders (I'm not that bad honest ) even got as far as one company flying me out to australia for a visit then it all went quiet

Now Im a rear gunner on a milk float in a rough part of town
Edit: I work for BPEC Monday and Tuesday assessing Gas Safe registered engineers (they have to prove competence every 5 years)
Rest of the week I teach domestic gas and heating
I also do the odd plumbing/ heating/ gas job
Did model many years ago (playdo mostly)
I have no formal qualifications in relation to cars (and it shows) but do hold a basic welding qualification plus obviously the heating/plumbing/gas/ unvented hot water/ teaching/ assessing quals
Diesel Destroyer.. 'The bringer of dreams'
